On October 15, during a press conference organized by the Shanghai Municipal Government, Gao Haiyun, a second-level inspector at the Water Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, articulated the forthcoming strategic direction. He highlighted that the ministry, under the overarching vision of constructing a formidable transportation powerhouse, will spearhead the establishment of numerous high-caliber, intelligent water transport entities spanning 22 distinct application scenarios. Leveraging the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, the aim is to catalyze high-quality development within the water transport sector. A key focus will be on propelling the development of new energy vessels, notably inland river battery-powered and methanol-powered ships. This initiative will be complemented by the strategic deployment of green fuel bunkering stations and advanced vessel charging/swapping infrastructure. Furthermore, the ministry is committed to establishing zero-carbon water transport corridors, thereby facilitating a comprehensive, green, and low-carbon transformation across ports, waterways, and vessels. Simultaneously, the ministry intends to broaden the scope of international cooperation on green shipping corridors, offering a 'Chinese solution' that contributes to the sustainable development of the global shipping industry.
