Google is actively extending the horizons of the Android automotive ecosystem, marking significant strides in the game development arena for both Android Auto and Android Automotive OS. Key functionalities have successfully transitioned from the testing phase to full-fledged availability, empowering developers to seamlessly roll out in-car applications and games tailored for real-world vehicles and their users.
Previously, Android Auto 14.1 had already integrated gaming features, albeit restricted to use solely when the vehicle is parked. The inaugural lineup of compatible games encompasses popular titles such as 'Farm Heroes Saga' and 'Angry Birds 2', among others. Concurrently, Android Auto and Automotive OS are set to roll out support for video and browser applications in phases. Video applications will offer the convenience of audio streaming while driving, with the added ability to play videos once the vehicle is parked. Automotive OS takes it a step further by enabling video playback on the passenger screen or rear entertainment screen. However, browser applications will remain accessible only post-parking, ensuring safety and adherence to driving regulations.
