On the morning of September 21, Wang Wentao, China's Minister of Commerce, engaged in a meeting with President Müller from the German Automotive Industry Association. During the discussion, both parties shared their perspectives on the collaborative landscape between the Chinese and German automotive industries, as well as the broader economic and trade relations between China and the European Union (EU).

Minister Wang Wentao emphasized that China is not the source of the EU's economic and trade challenges; instead, it stands as a committed partner in addressing these issues. He expressed China's stance against the EU resorting to protectionist measures that could restrict or close markets, potentially fostering a more closed global market environment. China is open to exploring solutions, particularly within the automotive sector, through the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism. This approach is guided by the principles of compliance, balance, and non-discrimination.

Furthermore, Minister Wang Wentao voiced his hope that the German Automotive Industry Association would play a proactive role in facilitating dialogue and consultations between the German government, the European Commission, and China. The aim is to arrive at a mutually acceptable and constructive resolution.
