At the 2026 China Automotive Industry Development (TEDA) International Forum, Wang Weiming, Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), emphasized that China's automotive industry is now at a pivotal juncture for enhancing quality and efficiency, as well as undergoing transformation and upgrading. In response, the MIIT has taken the initiative to release the '15th Five-Year Plan' for the Development of the Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Industry. Moving forward, the MIIT will work in tandem with relevant departments to drive the high-quality development of the industry and bolster China's position as a global automotive powerhouse. To further stimulate automobile consumption, initiatives such as trade-in schemes for old vehicles and the promotion of new energy vehicles in rural areas will be rolled out. Additionally, regulations governing vehicle modifications will be introduced to fully unlock the potential of the automobile consumption market.
