Tesla is slated to officially roll out its inaugural self-driving taxi, the Cybercab, this Thursday (September 3, 2026), local time. This strategic move marks a substantial leap forward for Tesla in the self-driving taxi sector, as it strives to bridge the gap with its rival, Waymo. The Cybercab stands as Tesla's inaugural mass-produced vehicle tailored explicitly for the autonomous ride-hailing market, eschewing traditional manual controls like steering wheels and pedals. Instead, it entrusts all driving decisions to Tesla's cutting-edge Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. Production of the Cybercab commenced on a large scale in April of this year. Following the launch event, there are plans to progressively incorporate it into Austin's local autonomous driving network, thereby initiating public test rides.

Analysts from Morgan Stanley have underscored the significance of the Cybercab's debut for Tesla. They project that this particular business segment will contribute $120 towards Tesla's ambitious $400 stock price target.
