Waymo, Google's autonomous driving subsidiary, is facing new challenges in its operations of self-driving taxi fleets. Since launching services in Austin, Texas, in 2024, the fleet has accumulated 83 parking tickets, totaling $9,325 in fines. According to public records, as of mid-July this year, Waymo has paid $7,433 in fines, with $1,892 remaining unpaid. The violations primarily involve parking infractions, such as parking in tow-away zones, failing to pay metered parking fees, and double-parking. Among these, the largest single fine was $519 for a vehicle occupying a handicapped parking space.
