On July 27, during the Media Roundtable at the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference, Su Guobin, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, disclosed that in the first half of 2026, the penetration rate of L2-level combined assisted driving systems in newly manufactured passenger vehicles in Beijing soared to 77.5%, outpacing the national average of 70%. The BAIC ARCFOX Alpha S emerged as one of the pioneering L3-level conditionally automated driving models to enter mass production nationwide, setting a precedent for the legal road operation and commercial deployment of advanced automated driving technologies.

Leveraging the nation's inaugural high-level automated driving demonstration zone, Beijing has granted over 1,500 testing licenses and amassed a commendable safe testing mileage exceeding 65 million kilometers. In the context of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei regional coordination, Beijing is joining forces with Tianjin and Hebei to construct an Intelligent Connected New Energy Vehicle Technology Eco-Port. This initiative has garnered participation from over 200 companies along the industrial chain, with 53 having already signed agreements and commenced operations.

Looking ahead, Beijing is set to concentrate on four key areas: the industrialization of high-level automated driving, the development of 'Dual Intelligence' 4.0, achieving breakthroughs in core technologies, and fostering industrial collaboration within the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The overarching goal is to establish a world-class industrial cluster.
