On July 27th, data compiled by the Gaogong Industry Institute (GGII), sourced from compulsory traffic insurance records for new energy vehicles, revealed that sales of new energy vehicles in the first half of 2026 were impacted by factors such as the reduction of purchase tax exemptions, prevailing market conditions, and seasonal fluctuations. Consequently, sales reached approximately 5.108 million units, reflecting a 10% decline compared to the same period last year. Nevertheless, the average battery capacity per new energy commercial vehicle witnessed an uptick, propelling the growth in battery installed capacity, which soared to approximately 334.7 GWh in the first half of the year, a notable 16% increase year-on-year.
