On July 4th, He Xiaopeng, the Chairman and CEO of XPeng Motors, asserted in a recent interview that China stands at the vanguard of the global assisted driving arena. This leadership is evident both in the technological advancements achieved by Chinese companies and in the proactive formulation of pertinent laws and regulations. He highlighted that the United Nations has recently adopted regulations concerning intelligent driving, with L2-level regulations receiving full endorsement. This signifies that, commencing from December of this year, L2-level driving assistance features, such as NGP (Navigation Guided Pilot) and NOA (Navigate on Autopilot), will become accessible and be implemented on a global scale, heralding a significant milestone in the industry.
He Xiaopeng further emphasized that, prior to this development, only China and the United States had genuinely accomplished large-scale deployments of L2-level assisted driving systems. In contrast, the majority of regions worldwide, including the European Union, had yet to embrace such advancements. As a prominent Chinese smart car manufacturer and a contributing member of the UN traffic regulations formulation committee, XPeng Motors is actively aligning itself with regulatory demands and is ceaselessly enhancing its technological prowess.
