On June 25, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Commerce, working in tandem with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the National Energy Administration, officially launched the 2026 Campaign to Promote New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) in Rural Regions. The launch events were held simultaneously in Tacheng, Xinjiang, and Chengmai, Hainan. An official from the Department of Equipment Industry mentioned that this year's campaign aims to set up a specialized platform, bolster policy support, diversify activities, improve service standards, and amplify the campaign's impact. In particular, rural consumers looking to upgrade to NEVs will receive tailored support, such as the removal of quantity limits for trade-in subsidy applications, thereby fostering a conducive environment for NEV adoption in rural areas. At the Tacheng venue, 41 mainstream brands and over 120 vehicle models were on display, while the Chengmai venue showcased more than 30 brands and over 50 vehicle models. Both locations also organized complementary activities, including applications for car purchase subsidies and one-stop after-sales financing services, concurrently.
