Jatco, a subsidiary of Nissan Motor, has abandoned plans to produce electric vehicle power systems at its plant in Sunderland, UK. The reason is that the demand for Nissan's electric vehicles in the European market is lower than expected, putting pressure on related investment deployments. Jatco announced in January 2025 that it planned to invest £48.7 million to build a production line at the Sunderland plant, with an original plan to produce up to 340,000 integrated electric vehicle power systems annually.
