On May 21, 2026, Tesla made an official announcement declaring the availability of the supervised version of Full Self-Driving (FSD) in China. Prior to this, Tesla China had posted several job openings pertaining to intelligent driving testing, fueling speculation that the rollout of FSD would be expedited. Tesla's customer service clarified that the intelligent assisted driving feature, priced at RMB 64,000, is not universally compatible with all Tesla vehicles. Instead, some vehicles are only adapted (compatible) to the enhanced assisted driving function, which costs RMB 32,000. The company is diligently pursuing necessary approvals in compliance with national regulations and will swiftly introduce the feature to Chinese customers upon receiving the green light. At present, Tesla has set up a local AI training center in China and has implemented localized training capabilities to lay the groundwork for a more extensive rollout in the future.
