On May 19, Ben Garviser, the Director of Software Engineering at Oracle, initiated a lawsuit against Tesla in a small claims court located in Texas, USA, and emerged victorious. He was awarded compensation exceeding $10,000 due to Tesla's failure to deliver on its promise of 'Full Self-Driving' (FSD) capability. Garviser acquired a Tesla Model 3 in August 2021 and opted to pay an extra $10,000 for the FSD feature. However, even after several years, the anticipated autonomous driving without human intervention remains unrealized. During the court proceedings on April 1st of this year, Tesla's representatives were notably absent, leading the court to issue a default judgment. Consequently, Tesla was ordered to compensate Garviser with $10,600 and cover legal fees amounting to $72.88. Subsequently, Tesla's legal team sought an extension for the appeal deadline, but their request was denied. Garviser has stated that if Tesla continues to refuse payment of the compensation, he will pursue an enforcement order to seize assets from Tesla showrooms.
