Based on the 'Decade Development Report on Intellectual Property in the Automotive Industry' published by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, China's automotive industry has, over the past decade, carved out core competitive advantages on the global stage, leveraging intellectual property in electrification and intelligent technologies. Throughout this period, China has consistently ranked first worldwide in automotive patent disclosures, significantly outpacing the United States, Japan, and Europe. Specifically, in the new energy vehicle sector, patent disclosures surged from over 50,000 in 2016 to more than 110,000 by 2025, marking an impressive average annual growth rate of 17.1%. Meanwhile, patents related to intelligent connected vehicles also saw substantial growth, rising from 44,000 to 93,000, with an average annual growth rate of 11.6%. Furthermore, Chinese automotive companies have expanded their overseas patent portfolios, covering over 50 countries and regions.
