On May 1, Nissan's North American subsidiary announced that it would cancel plans to produce electric vehicles at its plant in Mississippi as part of a strategic review. Due to the termination of U.S. green car subsidies last year, the electric vehicle market has shrunk, prompting Nissan to expand production of traditional vehicles (such as gasoline-powered cars) at the plant. Currently, sales of non-electric vehicles in the U.S. continue to rise.
