On April 16, 2026, South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport issued the nation's first-ever operational permit for a commercial, fee-based driverless freight transportation service. The recipient of this groundbreaking approval was RideFlux, a domestic autonomous driving company. RideFlux has announced its plans to inaugurate a driverless delivery service this June. The service will operate along a 112-kilometer route, connecting the Southeast Circle Logistics Park in Seoul's Songpa District with the Lotte Express Cheongju Super Distribution Center in North Chungcheong Province.
To execute this service, RideFlux will employ 25-ton Tata Daewoo MAXEN heavy-duty trucks, which will travel at a steady speed of 90 kilometers per hour. In consideration of traffic flow and efficiency, deliveries will be scheduled three times a week during off-peak hours, specifically from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM on weekdays.
