On February 25, Paul Chan, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government, unveiled the government budget for the fiscal year 2026-2027 at the Legislative Council. He announced that, while prioritizing road safety, the HKSAR government is actively fostering the driverless and large-scale advancement of autonomous driving technology. The aim is to facilitate commercial operations and empower the industry to utilize Hong Kong as a springboard for expanding into international markets. It is anticipated that the 'Aerospace Corridor' autonomous driving transport system will commence operations this year, marking Hong Kong's inaugural venture into commercially-operated autonomous driving.
