Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology unveiled the approval draft of the mandatory national standard, GB 11557-202X, titled 'Regulations for Preventing Driver Injury from Automobile Steering Mechanisms.' This standard is slated for enforcement on January 1, 2027. In contrast to the comment draft, the approval draft has completely excluded all technical aspects pertaining to half-steering wheels. This includes the relevant definitions, testing protocols, and compatibility guidelines, signaling that this particular steering wheel design will not be eligible for national standard certification in the foreseeable future.
