China’s Automotive Sector Sustains Steady Growth in January

According to data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on the 11th, China’s automotive industry maintained stable performance in January 2026. Monthly automobile production reached 2.45 million units, marking a slight year-on-year increase of 0.01%, while sales stood at 2.346 million units, reflecting a 3.2% decline compared to the same period last year. The new energy vehicle (NEV) segment remained resilient, with production and sales volumes hitting 1.041 million and 945,000 units, respectively, representing year-on-year growth of 2.5% and 0.1%. The commercial vehicle market continued its upward trajectory, achieving double-digit year-on-year growth in both production and sales. In terms of exports, overall automobile shipments sustained their upward momentum, with NEV exports performing exceptionally well, reaching 302,000 units and doubling on a year-on-year basis.
