On February 9, reports surfaced indicating that Shanghai NIO Automobile Co., Ltd. had submitted a recall proposal to the State Administration for Market Regulation. This action was taken in compliance with the "Regulations on the Recall Management of Defective Automotive Products" and its corresponding enforcement guidelines, bearing the recall identification number S2026M0017I. The recall, which commenced promptly, encompasses a total of 246,229 ES8, ES6, and EC6 all-electric vehicles produced between March 16, 2018, and January 16, 2023. The root cause of the recall lies in software malfunctions present in certain vehicles, which, under particular circumstances, could lead to momentary power outages affecting the instrument panel and central control display. Throughout these outages, drivers are deprived of access to vital information, including speed readings and fault notifications. Furthermore, the vehicle's defrosting and defogging capabilities are rendered inoperative, thereby presenting potential safety risks.
