On January 1, 2026, Mercedes - Benz issued a cautionary notice to certain owners of EQB all - electric SUVs manufactured between 2022 and 2023. The company advised that these owners should restrict the battery charge level to a maximum of 80% in order to mitigate the potential danger of battery cell short - circuits, which could lead to subsequent fires. This particular issue affects a total of 169 vehicles. The models mainly involved are the EQB300 4MATIC and EQB350 4MATIC, with a small number of EQB250 vehicles also included. Mercedes - Benz has scheduled a software update for early 2026. Once the update is available, owners will be required to visit an authorized service center to have the upgrade carried out.
