Recently, leaked spy photos have revealed the production version of SAIC Volkswagen’s ID.ERA undergoing road testing. Positioned as a full-size extended-range hybrid SUV, this model is anticipated to launch in 2026. The new vehicle boasts a length exceeding 5.2 meters, sleek concealed door handles, and strategically placed cameras on the fenders to enhance advanced driver-assistance capabilities.

In terms of aesthetics, the ID.ERA embraces a "cold modern architectural aesthetic," characterized by clean, bold lines. The front fascia features split headlights, a through-type LED light strip, and an illuminated logo, all contributing to a futuristic and high-tech appearance. Inside, the SUV offers a six-seat configuration, complete with a central control screen, a passenger-side entertainment display, and a ceiling-mounted screen for second-row passengers. The innovative Smart Surface interactive screen simplifies operation, enhancing user experience.

Powertrain-wise, the ID.ERA is equipped with an EA211 1.5T EVO II engine, paired with dual electric motors and a sizable battery. This setup grants it a CLTC-rated pure electric range exceeding 350 kilometers and a combined range surpassing 1000 kilometers. Priced around 400,000 yuan, the new car is set to rival domestically produced full-size new energy SUVs, such as the Li Auto L9.
