Automotive laser sensor manufacturer Luminar (LAZR.US) filed for bankruptcy protection shortly after terminating its contract with Volvo Cars. At its peak, Luminar was valued at up to $5 billion. The Orlando-based company filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection petition on Monday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. According to its bankruptcy filing, the company's assets range between $100 million and $500 million, while its liabilities are between $500 million and $1 billion.
