Ford Motor Company has recalibrated its electric vehicle strategy, unveiling its foray into the large-scale battery energy storage arena. The company will supply energy storage systems tailored for data centers and power grids, effectively repurposing battery capacity initially earmarked for sizable electric vehicle models. Ford clarified that it won't be scrapping the original battery production endeavors; instead, it will pivot them towards the energy storage sector, with intentions to employ more cost-effective lithium iron phosphate batteries to energize data centers and stabilize grid loads.
