On September 10, the "Notice on Initiating a Special Campaign to Rectify Online Disorder in the Automotive Sector" was issued, outlining plans to intensify efforts to clean up online disorder within the automotive industry. This will be achieved through a combination of self-examinations by automotive companies, streamlined reporting procedures, and in-depth analysis and evaluation based on identified issues. Automotive companies and relevant online platforms are mandated to carry out thorough self-examinations and promptly rectify any violations found. In addition, automotive companies are encouraged to report any evidence of online manipulation, such as "online water armies" (a term referring to groups of paid posters who flood online forums or comment sections with biased or fake information), "black PR" (unethical public relations tactics), "black mouths" (individuals or groups spreading negative or false information), and disorder related to "fandom" fans (overzealous fans causing online disruptions) to website platforms, the Illegal and Harmful Information Reporting Center of the Cyberspace Administration of China, and local provincial cyberspace administrations. A swift response mechanism will be established to legally and contractually shut down and publicly expose a number of media accounts involved in such disorderly conduct. There will also be thorough investigations into the PR and marketing firms, as well as other agent teams responsible for the disorder, along with the automotive companies that have utilized their services. Legal actions will be taken accordingly.
