The app originally known as "Is It Dead?", which garnered significant attention for its innovative survival check-in feature, underwent integration and rebranding to become "Is Anyone There?" in May of this year. Initially deployed in the Nanxing Subdistrict of Shangcheng District, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, the app is designed to monitor the well-being of elderly individuals living alone and empty-nesters.
The app has since evolved into a sophisticated smart elderly care platform, introducing its 2.0 iteration, the AIP Safety Network. This advanced system eliminates the need for manual check-ins by the elderly. Once user authorization is obtained, it can scrutinize mobile phone behavioral data to ascertain the home safety status of seniors. Compared to traditional methods, this system offers a more cost-effective solution, with notably enhanced user engagement and efficiency in grassroots operations.
The app operates on a subscription model where the government is billed for its services. The 1.0 version of the system costs 99 yuan per year, while the upgraded 2.0 system is priced at 199 yuan annually. These services are procured uniformly by the government, allowing elderly individuals living alone to benefit from the app free of charge. Presently, the app's reach extends across the Zhejiang region, with efforts underway to expand its availability to Guangdong, Shandong, Gansu, and other provinces. It currently boasts a user base of approximately 600,000 to 700,000 individuals, and the company behind it has achieved profitability, with an estimated valuation hovering around 200 million yuan.
