On October 23, preliminary data released by Counterpoint Research revealed that global PC shipments plummeted by 21% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2026, reaching a total of 57 million units. This also marked a 13.8% decline from the previous quarter. This downward trend is mainly attributed to the sustained high costs of storage components and other parts, which have led to increased PC prices and, consequently, dampened market demand. Looking forward, it is projected that global PC shipments will continue to decline in the fourth quarter of 2026, with an estimated year-on-year decrease of 27%. Furthermore, full-year shipments for 2027 are expected to remain relatively stagnant compared to 2026. In terms of vendor performance, Lenovo led the market by shipping 15 million units in the third quarter of 2026, despite experiencing a 23% year-on-year decline. This performance secured Lenovo a 26.3% market share. HP followed closely behind, shipping 10.3 million units, which represented a 31% year-on-year decrease, and capturing an 18.1% market share. Dell ranked third, with 7.6 million units shipped, a 25% year-on-year drop, and a 13.3% market share. Apple's shipments declined by 11% year-on-year to 5.6 million units, but its market share increased to 9.8%. ASUS shipped 5.2 million units, experiencing a relatively modest 7% year-on-year decline.
