Following a wait spanning more than two years, the Chinese iteration of Apple Intelligence is on the verge of its debut. The initial set of fundamental features is slated to make its way to mainland China in December, coinciding with the release of iOS 27.3. These features encompass a range of functionalities, including photo editing, the creation of Genmoji (custom emojis), notification summaries, writing tools, and beyond. Nevertheless, certain advanced features such as Siri AI, Image Playground, and an upgraded version of Genmoji will remain unavailable, and the text generation tool will also face limitations. Apple Intelligence was initially unveiled at WWDC 2024, with the first batch of features being rolled out internationally in October of the same year. The Chinese version, however, has encountered delays owing to regulatory clearances and other factors. In July of this year, Apple secured preliminary approval to launch the feature in China, paving the way for the filing and certification of pertinent supported models. Notably, new filing numbers have been assigned to models equipped with large models. The launch date for the Chinese version has undergone multiple postponements but is now firmly scheduled for the end of this year, with additional features slated to be introduced through subsequent version updates.
