The iPhone 18 Pro series, unveiled by Apple at its autumn 2026 event, features a significant upgrade to the Dynamic Island. The width of the Dynamic Island has been reduced from 20.76mm on the iPhone 17 Pro to 13.49mm, representing a roughly 35% decrease in area and boosting the screen-to-body ratio to 94.7%. Despite its smaller size, the Dynamic Island can now handle three real-time activities simultaneously, such as navigation, food delivery, and event information—a notable improvement over the previous maximum of two. This enhancement was made possible by Apple relocating the infrared flood illuminator component of Face ID beneath the screen, while retaining the dot projector, infrared camera, and front-facing camera to ensure full functionality.
