At the 2026 Berlin International Aerospace Exhibition, Airbus Helicopters proudly presented its newest innovation—the U145, a fully autonomous unmanned cargo helicopter. This cutting-edge model is an enhanced version of the existing H145 platform, where the traditional cockpit has been removed and replaced with a split cargo door and expanded cargo hold area, significantly boosting its payload capacity. The U145 boasts a maximum takeoff weight of 3,800 kilograms and can carry an internal effective cargo payload of up to 1,180 kilograms. The prototype is set to make its maiden flight by the end of 2026, with all necessary airworthiness certifications anticipated to be finalized in the early 2030s, paving the way for commercial and military mass production.
