BEIJING -- Early Thursday morning Beijing time, the iPhone Air, which has experienced setbacks, is set to launch its second-generation model next spring. This move aims to address several shortcomings of the first-generation product and re-evaluate market demand for an ultra-thin iPhone. The original iPhone Air, released in September 2025, featured significantly simplified specifications compared to the similarly priced iPhone 17 Pro, with only a single rear camera and a top-mounted speaker, along with poor battery performance. Additionally, its eSIM-only design hindered its popularity in multiple markets. According to reports, due to sluggish sales of the first-generation model, Apple supplier Foxconn dismantled most of the iPhone Air production lines shortly after its release.
