On June 13, Tianjin witnessed the official launch of the world’s first automated production line dedicated to volume holographic waveguides, boasting the capability to manufacture millions of units annually. This milestone represents a major leap forward in China’s pursuit of large-scale commercialization in consumer-grade AR core display technology, setting the stage for the broader adoption of affordable AR glasses and in-car AR-HUDs (Augmented Reality Head-Up Displays).

Engineered and constructed by Nika Optics (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., this state-of-the-art production line is designed for an impressive annual output of up to 1 million units. It incorporates a thousand-level cleanroom environment and a precision-controlled environmental system, leveraging fully customized holographic lithography equipment and proprietary processes developed in-house by Nika Optics. Following this launch, the combined annual production capacity of Nika Optics’ facilities in Tianjin and Guangzhou will surge to 1.3 million units.
