Recently, a blogger disclosed on a social media platform that Apple’s upcoming iPhone Ultra—priced at around $2,000—will abandon Face ID in favor of a side-mounted fingerprint recognition Touch ID, seamlessly integrated into the power button. This design shift is attributed to the spatial constraints caused by the foldable screen architecture. Given that the iPhone Ultra’s overall thickness measures just 4.5 to 4.8 millimeters, fitting two Face ID modules is unfeasible. To strike a balance between a sleek profile and extended battery life, Apple has opted to return to fingerprint recognition. Additionally, the device will feature a single-punch screen design, with the front camera centrally located on the outer display and positioned in the top-left corner of the inner screen.

In terms of hardware, the iPhone Ultra boasts a 5.3-inch outer screen and a 7.8-inch inner screen. It will be the first to be powered by the A20 Pro flagship chip, feature a dual 48-megapixel rear camera setup, and house a battery with a capacity exceeding 5000mAh. The official release is anticipated in the fall of 2026.
