In the past half-year, there has been a broad uptick in the prices of essential personal computer components, with memory modules and solid-state drives experiencing particularly notable price hikes. In the wake of these developments, the four premier motherboard producers have, one after another, scaled back their yearly sales projections, anticipating an overall decrease in shipment volume by 28%. ASUS is anticipated to ship slightly over 5 million units this year, a figure drastically lower than the initial 10 million-unit target set at the year's outset, indicating an estimated year-on-year drop of 33%. Similarly, Gigabyte and MSI have also downwardly adjusted their internal sales estimates for 2026, to 9 million and 8.4 million units respectively, marking year-on-year decreases of 22% and 24%. ASRock's shipments are projected to plummet from 4.3 million units in 2025 to 2.7 million units by the year's end, signifying a substantial 37% decline.
