On December 18, the High Court of Justice in London, UK, delivered a significant ruling in the ongoing global patent dispute concerning video coding technology, pitting Acer, ASUS, and Hisense against Nokia. The court sided with the three aforementioned companies, mandating that Nokia, acting as the prospective licensor, grant them temporary licenses. Additionally, Nokia is required to pay a fee of US$0.365 per device until the court establishes the 'Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory' (FRAND) terms for the patent license.
