On Thursday (local time), Apple Inc. managed to convince a U.S. appeals court to overturn a previous court ruling that mandated the tech giant to implement certain competitive reforms within its highly profitable App Store. Nevertheless, the company fell short of overturning a more extensive injunction. In a legal battle initiated by Epic Games, the creator of the popular game Fortnite, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, located in San Francisco, determined that some of the contempt orders issued in April by a judge—who had found Apple to be in violation of a prior ruling and thus in contempt—were excessively broad and required modification. Despite this, the appeals court maintained the majority of the contempt findings and the original injunction imposed on Apple.
