In January 2019, ByteDance secured a selection of patents and assembled teams from Smartisan Technology, leading to the creation of New Stone Lab. Wu Dezhou, previously serving as the Vice President overseeing Product Lines and Hardware R&D at Smartisan, transitioned to ByteDance, assuming the role of President at New Stone Lab. Following this move, Wu Dezhou spearheaded the Smartisan team in unveiling models like the Smartisan Pro 3 and Smartisan R2.
