On October 14, the International Data Corporation (IDC) released preliminary data on Monday, revealing that in the third quarter of this year, global smartphone shipments rose by 2.6% year-on-year, hitting 322.7 million units. This growth was propelled by robust consumer demand for high-end and AI-powered devices. Among the major players, Apple delivered its best-ever performance, and Samsung notched up its strongest quarterly growth on record. Samsung maintained its global leadership, shipping 61.4 million units. Apple's shipments witnessed a nearly 3% increase, reaching 58.6 million units. Furthermore, Xiaomi, Transsion, and VIVO also experienced notable growth during this quarter. IDC remains upbeat about the prospects for the rest of 2025, expecting robust year-end sales fueled by aggressive promotional campaigns, expanded AI functionalities, and continuous device innovation.
