The Norwegian browser developer Opera has recently lodged a lawsuit with Brazil's antitrust authority, CADE, accusing Microsoft's Edge browser of gaining unfair competitive advantages. Opera contends that Microsoft, leveraging its dominant position in the operating system market, has established Edge as the default browser and employed various tactics to hinder the growth of rival browsers. This is not the first time Opera and Microsoft have clashed over competitive issues. Back in 2007, Opera filed a complaint with the European Commission about Microsoft's practice of bundling the IE browser with the Windows operating system. The European Union ultimately imposed an antitrust fine of €561 million (approximately $648 million) on Microsoft in that case. Microsoft has yet to issue a response to Opera's latest accusations.
