On July 18, 2025, China Mobile International Limited (CMI) proudly announced the official commissioning of the Southeast Asia-Japan Cable 2 (SJC2) on July 16. This state-of-the-art submarine cable spans a total length of 10,500 kilometers, linking key hubs such as Hong Kong, China, Japan, and Singapore, with further reach into other countries and regions across the Asia-Pacific. Leveraging advanced optical wavelength division multiplexing technology, SJC2 boasts a design capacity of up to 126Tbps, ensuring ultra-low latency performance. This innovative cable will significantly enhance connectivity between Northeast Asia, East Asia, and Southeast Asia, catering to the region's burgeoning demand for cross-border data transmission and fueling the growth of the digital economy.
