Equinor, the Norwegian state-owned oil and gas giant, revealed on Wednesday a significant write-down of $955 million on the value of an offshore wind project in the United States, despite the Trump administration's previous lifting of a construction ban on the project. Earlier this year, in April, US Interior Secretary Doug Burgum highlighted that the Biden administration had failed to conduct a thorough environmental analysis prior to approving the Empire Wind project in New York State. Consequently, he ordered the project to be halted, dealing a severe blow to the burgeoning US offshore wind industry.
