Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Block and co-founder of Twitter, has introduced a novel decentralized peer-to-peer chat application named Bitchat. Derived from the combination of "bit" and "chat," this app leverages a Bluetooth Mesh network, incorporating a store-and-forward model alongside message encryption technology. This setup allows users to communicate without an internet connection. Dorsey disclosed on the X platform that he dedicated weekends to developing this project, with the vision of offering a secure and decentralized communication experience. Currently, Bitchat is accessible for TestFlight testing, with the ultimate ambition of establishing a censorship-resistant communication network that functions independently of internet access.
