The Norwegian Data Protection Authority announced a fine of 92 million kroner (approximately $9.6 million) against Microsoft for illegally sharing sensitive data of thousands of users in Norway, marking the highest penalty issued by the authority to date. Microsoft's advertising platform, Xandr, transmitted personal information of Norwegian Grindr users, including sensitive data such as sexual orientation, to thousands of other companies. The case was initially filed by the Norwegian Consumer Protection Authority in 2020.
