On September 19, reporters obtained information from Zhejiang’s maritime authorities, revealing that the “Haiying Jiake,” a 3,500-ton comprehensive oceanographic research vessel—the first of its kind in China to be entirely funded and built with private capital—embarked on its trial voyage from Ruoshan Anchorage in Wenling, Zhejiang Province, on the same day. The vessel was financed through a joint investment of 150 million yuan by 37 fishermen, marking an innovative endeavor where the private sector actively supports marine scientific research.
