On August 13, Meituan unveiled the first official version of its 'Traffic Light Stopwatch' feature, specifically designed for food delivery riders in Beijing, and has commenced road trials in designated pilot areas. Presently, evaluations are underway in over 20 additional cities, with plans to progressively introduce this feature in qualifying cities. During the first half of this year, Meituan's delivery safety technology team carried out internal product testing on selected roads in Beijing to lay the groundwork for the feature's development. At present, this innovative function is undergoing pilot testing on certain roads in Beijing's Chaoyang District, Tongzhou District, and Economic and Technological Development Zone, all of which are integrated with traffic data systems. The cumulative time that food delivery riders in Beijing spend waiting at red lights will be individually calculated and factored into the overall delivery time, ensuring a more accurate and rider-friendly experience.
