Reimagine Robotics (R2), founded by former members of Google's DeepMind Applied Robotics team, has completed its pre-seed funding round and launched an interactive robotics platform. This platform applies the manufacturing industry's 'mentor-apprentice' model to robots, allowing workers without programming knowledge to teach robots new skills through brief demonstrations and error corrections, enabling 'on-site post-training'. Currently, the platform has been applied in scenarios such as custom plastic parts manufacturing and critical material recycling, effectively reducing debugging time and allowing non-technical users to deploy it independently. Its technology originates from research projects such as RoboTAP, Reward Sketching, and RoboCat that the team participated in at DeepMind. In the future, the platform will achieve continuous online learning, reducing the programming and data collection requirements for robot deployment through human-robot interaction and collaboration. However, whether its model can be applied to all production processes remains to be further validated.
