Alibaba’s top-tier leadership has recently unveiled a series of strategic personnel adjustments, with Chief Technology Officer Wu Zeming being appointed to the prestigious Partnership Committee. Concurrently, Yan Xiaolei, CEO of Hema Fresh, will now report directly to Jiang Fan. This reshuffle comes as Alibaba sharpens its focus on instant retail, consolidating businesses like Hema and Tmall Supermarket under the Taobao Flash Sales banner to amplify brand visibility and user engagement. Presently, Alibaba’s instant retail sector boasts a robust daily active user base surpassing 100 million. Taobao Flash Sales, in particular, processes around 60 million daily orders, securing over 40% of the market share. Hema Fresh has expanded its front-end warehouse network to over 500 locations, with ambitions to double this figure by year-end. Meanwhile, Taobao Convenience Stores are on track to reach 3,000 outlets by 2026, further solidifying Alibaba’s dominance in the sector.
