On May 21, a ByteDance employee took to a social media platform, revealing that they had endured mental and physical distress due to alleged PUA (Pick-up Artist, here used metaphorically to refer to manipulative and coercive tactics) tactics employed by company leaders and the HR department. This distress, the employee claimed, reached a breaking point, leading them to contemplate jumping from the ByteDance office building. The individual has been diagnosed with severe depression. According to their account, the company sought to terminate their employment under the guise of needing personnel for another business venture. However, to circumvent paying the legally mandated 'n+1' severance compensation, they allegedly resorted to PUA tactics to coerce the employee into resigning voluntarily. As of now, ByteDance has not issued any official response regarding the matter.
