On May 16, 2026, Microsoft rolled out a new preview build of Win11 to Windows Insiders, covering Beta, Experimental, and the 26H1/29500 series channels. This update primarily focuses on optimizing the taskbar and widget functionalities: the taskbar now supports four-way positioning (bottom, top, left, right) and introduces a compact mode; widget taskbar badges adopt the system theme color and can intelligently silence notifications based on usage frequency. Additionally, the Windows search box now prioritizes matching local files and apps. Currently, all features are exclusively available for users in the Experimental channel.
