Recently, the ultrafast photonics research group from Xidian University's School of Optoelectronic Engineering, in a collaborative effort with Zhejiang Gongshang University, Jilin University, and additional partner institutions, has introduced an innovative approach for tailoring perfect optical vortex combs. This approach is grounded in the theoretical framework of perfect vortex beams. Through experimental verification utilizing a diffractive neural network, the team has achieved adaptable manipulation of the ring diameters across various modes within the vortex comb. This breakthrough effectively resolves the long-standing technical issue of inconsistent 'tooth lengths' that has plagued traditional vortex combs. The significant research outcomes have been featured in the esteemed international optics journal Laser & Photonics Reviews, offering a fresh and potent research instrument for disciplines such as optical communication and precision measurement.
